Built for blue water cruising, redesigned to enjoy it
In 2020, ODYSSEY underwent a major lifecycle refit of the exterior, interior, technical areas and equipment.
In a decisive departure from her exterior, ODYSSEY’s hull and superstructure were stripped, prepared, and repainted in dark blue and white. The new colour scheme rethought how paint was used to define her form and highlighted her aggressively elegant exterior lines and profile. The large windows on the main and upper decks are concealed by darkened glass and black frames, giving the exterior a clean, uncluttered appearance.
The
Exterior Decks
The exterior decks were re-configured with new furniture, cushions, upholstery, and protective covers. Every deck now includes al fresco dining, alongside more informal lounging and socialising areas. The installation of windscreen glazing and glass doors on the main and upper decks provides additional shelter from the elements.
The Tenders
and Floating Dock
ODYSSEY’s tenders and toys package was upgraded to include:
• 7.5m (24’6”) Smuggler Strata 750
• 6m (19’68”) Zodiac AKA F3H-C Neo Black
• 2 × Yamaha VX Cruiser PWCs
• Super Air Nautique G23’ (7m)
To handle the larger Smuggler tender, a new Nautical Structures crane was relocated and installed on the foredeck, optimizing tender handling and increasing capacity.
The structure of the floating dock and garage was re-engineered, with a custom-fabricated tender cradle, chocks, and storage systems installed to improve the launch and recovery of the Nautique 23.
The Bridge
The bridge was reconfigured with upgraded navigation and control equipment, while the full AV/IT system was modernised, including distribution, control systems, and display units throughout.
The Interior
The interior also underwent significant change and improvements. The London-based designers H2 Yacht Design were approached for a preliminary study to refurbish the interior guest areas, accommodations, and exterior decks. The brief required lightening the palette and creating a lighter, fresher, more informal environment.
The master suite was entirely redecorated in cream and white to create a more relaxed, leisure-focused atmosphere.
The layout of the two starboard guest staterooms on the lower deck was redesigned, eliminating the diagonal beds to create a greater sense of space. All four cabins on the lower deck were refurbished in soft neutral tones, including the joinery, finishes, and soft furnishings.
The gym and sauna area on the sun deck was converted into a sixth guest cabin with an integrated bathroom and closet. ODYSSEY can now accommodate up to 13 guests and carry 14 crew across seven cabins. The crew areas were also renovated.
The main salon was entirely redecorated, with dark wood partially replaced by mother-of-pearl lacquered wall panels, creating a brighter atmosphere complemented by comfortable seating in neutral colours. The upper salon followed the same direction, with Galuchat panelling replacing the dark wood wainscoting and a pool table taking the place of the formal dining area.
The Heli Deck
In 2021, further upgrades were carried out to enhance ODYSSEY’s aviation capability. The helideck was modified and certified for Bell 429 operations, and the mast structure, including reduction of aft overhang, was altered with associated steelwork and repainting to ensure compliance with Lloyd’s Register requirements. The stainless-steel handrails on the sun deck aft were replaced with a fully removable system.
The result is a more functional, seaworthy, safe, and versatile yacht that has successfully cruised the South Pacific for the past six years, making constant use of her array of tenders and helideck for “touch and go” operations.
